Brethren (or whatever you prefer)

I believe some of us are reading far more into this conference that we need
to!

In our area there are several assemblies that are within an hour or less
drive from each other. Twice a year the men of these assemblies gather
together for (gasp) fellowship. It's not a recognition of a organization or
a head other than Christ. What we do is have a barbecue and discuss what
the Lord has been doing in our lives and that of the assemblies where we
respectively meet. We discuss outreaches we are pursuing and often nearby
assemblies help in our outreach - usually evangelism. Sometimes we
coordinate our respective schedules to see if a nearby assembly is having
any special meetings that we believe our own saints would benefit from.
There's even a week during the summer that is coordinated by these
assemblies where like minded Christians gather for a vacation together
around God's word. As such, we share the expense of speakers that come in
to minister to us. In the past we've had men like A.P. Gibbs, H.A.
Ironside, William McDonald, and Jabe Nicholson.

Seems like good Christian fellowship to me.

If another assembly near us reports a problem, we reach out to assist it.
Isn't that what the early assemblies did in sending funds back to Jerusalem?

Have I missed something here?
