Good evening,
dear friends -

Well, we just got back in from Duke University Medical
Center, in Durham,
NC. We drove up yesterday afternoon, and stayed overnight
with friends.
We
loved having Shannon with us again - her third week in a
row. She's such
a
joy and encouragement to have on the trip. By the way,
since many of you
have asked, it takes about 4 hours to drive to and from
Duke...it's a
round-
trip of 505 miles.

We were up at 5:00 this
morning, as Carol's first test was a 7:00 am MRI.
By 8:20, she was finished
that and drinking down two pints of Banana
Barium!
Even before she went in
for her 9:30 CT Scan, they had injected her with
the
radioactive iodine,
which needed a couple of hours to assimilate through
her.
After an early
lunch, she was back in for a Bone Scan at 1:00. We weren't
able to meet with
the surgeon today, so we don't really have any results
yet
from these
tests. A soon as we learn the results, we'll let you know. The
big
fact
we're anxious to learn will be the actual size of the malignant
lesion in
her right breast, and the MRI should clear that up.

Our next trip to
Duke will be on Wednesday, early, as Carol has her pre-
operative workup at
11:00. Her surgery is still scheduled for Friday,
October
29th, at 1:00 pm
(est).

Even in these trying days, we feel surrounded with the prayers of
the
people
of God. So far, I've had literally hundreds of e-mails from
people, from
five
continents, assuring us of their prayers. What an honor
to be in this
family!
We cannot thank you enough for remembering Carol,
and all of us, before
the Throne of Grace. Please keep them
ascending!

With love, from all
here,

Alan
